Cyberpunk 2077 got official Modding support along with a fix for a Game-breaking Bug that was introduced with Update Patch 1.1.

Developer’s recently released, the official modding support for ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ that allows players to personalize and customize their Gameplay experience. This isn’t the only problem developers have faced with Cyberpunk 2077 Mods.

Recently, a user on Nexus Mods posted a mod, spotted by Euro-gamer that allowed players to have sex with an in-game character name as ‘Johnny Silverhand’, portrayed by actor ‘Keanu Reeves’. CD Projekt Red reportedly banned the mod by saying, “Our most important rule regarding user-generated content, Game mods particular is that it can’t be harmful towards society. In the case of model swaps, especially those that involve explicit situations, it can be perceived as such by the people who lent us their appearance for the purpose of creating these characters in “Cyberpunk 2077”, a statement to PC Gamer.

A fix is on the way ‘ASAP’

In brief: There’s always some inherent risk especially when you download mods for your games, but that risk usually comes in the form of potential save corruption or Game-breaking bugs. However, for ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ as of now is still yet unfixed “external DLL” vulnerability is leaving players which are already mod-equipped and been open to actual system security risks.

A Redditor named ‘Romulus_Is_Here’ brought the Gaming community’s attention towards the vulnerability in question on Sunday and CD Projekt Red also confirmed the risks in a Twitter Post.

So, what exactly is been going on.?

According to the Redditor, the external DLL files required by ‘Cyberpunk 2077 to run can be maliciously used to execute the code and can take remote control over a PC through the installation of a saved game or mod.

Hopefully, CDPR will be able to fix this problem ‘ASAP’ or sooner rather than later. Cyberpunk 2077’s modding scene is only going to get bigger over time in the coming months or maybe in upcoming years (can’t state anything about it now), and the last thing users should need to worry about this Malicious mod before getting their machine hacked because they downloaded a seemingly-harmless save game.
